Junior Operations Manager (Europe – Remote Role)

Location: Europe (ideally EU-based, hybrid/remote with travel as required)

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Operations Manager to support our Fleet Manager (Europe) in the day-to-day management of Njord Offshore’s European CTV operations.

The successful candidate will play a key supporting role in ensuring our vessels, crew, and operations run safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and client requirements. You will assist with operational coordination, compliance tracking, maintenance planning, and crew logistics, while liaising with technical and client teams across multiple projects and locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in offshore wind or CTV operations who is looking to take the next step into a broader fleet coordination role.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Fleet Support

  • Support the Fleet Manager in day-to-day oversight of the European CTV fleet.
  • Track vessel certification, inspections and maintenance schedules.
  • Help coordinate defect reporting and follow-up actions between vessels and shore-based teams.
  • Crew Coordination

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure vessel operations adhere to Njord Offshore’s QSMS, Flag State, and client requirements.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing safety documentation, audits, and inspection records.
  • Support incident and near-miss reporting, tracking corrective actions to closure

Client & Project Support

  • Liaise with clients on operational updates, reporting, and data requests.
  • Assist in compiling monthly vessel performance reports and KPI summaries.
  • Help coordinate logistics and documentation for project mobilisations and demobilisations.

Administrative & General Support

  • Maintain digital records and trackers for fleet, crew, and operational data.
  • Support procurement and logistics for spare parts, consumables, and travel arrangements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational standardisation across the European fleet.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in offshore wind, Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), or maritime operations.
  • Understanding of ISM/ISO management systems and vessel certification.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with good written and spoken English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with digital documentation systems.
  • Based in Europe, with the ability to travel to vessels, ports, and clients.

Fleet Engineer - Europe

We are looking for a marine engineer to join our team of Fleet Engineers. The role includes travelling between vessels, situated throughout the UK and Europe, assisting the on-board crew in maintaining the vessels, rectifying outstanding defects and dealing with urgent technical issues. A company service van will be provided.

Duties will include:

  • Managing and updating the defects throughout the fleet and reporting to management
  • Training and assisting new and existing crew with good maintenance
  • Maintaining and repairing all aspects of the vessel, with the assistance of the vessel’s crew
  • Attending and managing service agent callouts
  • Attending and managing dry docking/ engine exchanges, liaising with shipyards, surveyors and contractors.
  • Identifying required spare parts
  • Managing spare parts inventory in service vans & site stores.
  • Conducting inspections and testing and recertification of vessel equipment including;
    • Lifting Equipment
    • Portable Appliances
    • Life Saving Equipment

Qualifications/Experience should include:

  • Fluent in English
  • Right to work in Europe (and, ideally, UK)
  • 5-10 years marine engineering experience, preferably in small / fast craft.
  • STCW95 certified (preferable but not essential)
  • Full driving license
  • Good working knowledge of:-
    • Marine Engines (Volvo Penta/MTU experience advantageous)
    • Marine Systems
    • 3-phase 415V & 24V electrical systems
    • Air-conditioning systems

Working Time

The role is a 21 day on – 21 day off rota, in a team back to back with another fleet engineer and managed by Engineering Managers based at our headquarters. You will be tasked by and report to Engineering Managers for important planned and unplanned tasks, however you will manage your own time outside such tasks. You’ll be expected to work up to 12 hours a day and be highly flexible to rapidly react to changing situations / breakdowns.

While you’re on duty, we’ll provide a service van and tools. Accommodation will be either on-board the vessel you’re working on or shoreside as appropriate.

Salary is provided on a day rate basis and dependent on experience. Additional food allowance is provided. This position could be filled by a self-employed professional.
